Biography: Andrew, an 18-year-old High school Graduate from Falmouth, Nova Scotia, is the Atlantic Model Engineering Society’s youngest member. He’s also the closest to the TC&WR site in Windsor. He says this about himself: “Hey. I’ve been introduced already, so I’ll just give you some of the more important details. I’ve been coming to the TC&WR site since I was about 4...my grandfather, Peter, has helped nourish my interest in trains since a very young age. Since I kept coming back to the site, the other members got to know me better and better. As I got older, I’d often get the chance to help put their trains away and talk with them about their trains. Eventually, they invited me to drive their trains and, after a few lessons, I was hooked. I joined that year, as did Peter, and we haven’t looked back since. The club has gone through some interesting times since then, and vast improvements have been made since I first started spending time there. I started coming to workdays, and when we started working on the station, I started booking many more hours at the site...over 350 that year. And the same has held true every year since. There always seems to be some project that needs to be worked on, or some birthday party to operate for. And frankly, I couldn’t be happier...it may only be volunteer work, but I’d rather volunteer doing something I love than get paid to do something I can’t stand. My goal is to eventually work for a real, 1:1 scale railway like Canadian Pacific. I was originally planning on going out west sometime through the summer of 2007 to Calgary to work, but after mum passed away and my loan application was turned down, I opted to hang around and enjoy the good life I’m living here...trains, trains, trains and more trains. What more could I want? Well...I could provide a list...but lets not stray too far off topic, eh? If you see me at the site, please feel free to come up and say hey...unless something big is going on, I’ll stop and chat for at least a few minutes. Cheers!” |
